Homes By Vanderbuilt Helps Toys For Tots By Using Social Media

After reading in his local paper that Toys-For-Tots in Sanford was in desperate need, Homes by Vanderbuilt owner Tom Van de Reit wanted to help and wanted to get others involved. He thought of the best way he knew to communicate with the most of people in the shortest amount of time; Facebook.

“My wife and children and all my friends from high school and their wives and children are on there”, says Van de Reit. “Just about everyone I’ve ever met and everyone they know is on Facebook”, he adds.

Understanding that this year’s economy has been brutal for most Americans and area businesses, Van de Reit decided he would like to have a fundraiser for Toys-for-Tots of Sanford that could involve his community at no cost to them. Realizing the season was already upon us and being pressed for time, a Facebook drive seemed like the best solution.

“The people of Sanford are very giving, and this gift should be from all of us”, says Van de Reit. “I thought it would be a cool way for everyone to be involved”. Van de Reit says that every child in Lee County should have something under the tree this year.
